Program Details

Program Name: NJ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education (NJ SNAP)

Category : Youth Initiatives

DESCRIPTION: The NJ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) are Rutgers Cooperative Extension programs aimed at reducing hunger, preventing obesity and increasing physical activity among limited-resource families and youth in New Jersey. For adults and youth, we send an educator to your school or agency for six weeks to teach behaviorally focused, activity driven lessons to achieve nutrition behavior changes. Some of our nutrition education messages are found in video format at our comprehensive website www.snaped4me.org. Our program goals are accomplished by providing services in collaboration with different community based agencies, programs and schools. Both programs are funded by United States Department of Agriculture/Food and Nutrition Services.
