DESCRIPTION: The GS-LSAMP (Garden State - Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) program aims at providing participating students with opportunities and resources in an effort to ensure student success in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) majors, as well as holistic educational experiences to effectively explore and succeed in STEM majors and careers. Rutgers University-Newark is the proud leader of a 9 college, statewide alliance program to enhance the success of students in STEM fields. The program creates a learning community that includes effective assistance with: Tutoring for challenging classes Assistance in obtaining research opportunities and internships Career Exploration and Advisement Stipend Support Available Research experiences nationally, and possibly international experiences Resources and information regarding financial aid for graduate school The program extends well beyond the confines of Rutgers and is recognized nationally for its success in adding diversity to the STEM fields, as well as helping students graduate and continue into rewarding careers.
